I drive an average of 80-90,000km per year in Sydney .. in a CAR not a truck or taxi, yes, my work involves onsite service from Richmond to Manly to the City to Campbelltown and Camden and beyond, in and around the inner west, the northern suburbs, the outer west, the Shire, … Gridlock – everywhere I go, been doing this job for 25 years now, and it’s worse than ever .. the big problems started when Harold Scruby decided to dictate his wrath on the motorist by forcing School Zones on us, in the most ridiculous places… result – Gridlock, then Bus Lanes until 10am and then again at 3pm, result – one less lane for cars to travel in – Gridlock, and now exponential growth in the suburbs, with no transport infrastructure, result – Gridlock .. we now live in a society where pedestrians (thanks to Scruby) have the gall to just blindly walk around the roads without looking out for cars, and that includes school kids too, they are no longer taught the dangers of cars, and how to look out for them, they just know if there is ped crossing or school zone they are supposedly automatically immune.
The only time drivers can move about reasonably freely is between 10am and 3pm, outside these times we are stuck with school zones for no real reason (some are needed, most are not) and bus lanes with very few and far between buses in them. Madness.. Gridlock – Everywhere.. prices for everything are going up, including my service charges.. why ? Time is money …I now spend too much time in traffic getting from A to B to which I cannot charge for, therefore I lose money, therefore I have to make it up by charging more .. Madness…
